Kryptronic has been working overtime in 2018 to keep Kryptronic Software and Kryptronic Managed Hosting operating at the highest possible security levels for our clients. Recently Google decided to distrust Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates issued by Symantec. And we had to do quite a bit.

Trust Issues Series Part 1 of 4: Google’s Distrust of Symantec SSL Certificates

SSL certificates are one of the most important components of website security.  Nothing is more important that keeping your data, and your customer’s data, safe. Here at Kryptronic, we strive to provide you the most secure environment possible. This past year Google decided it had issues with the way Symantec issued SSL certificates, and as such decided to distrust all Symantec CA Certificates issued before December 1, 2017. That means that every SSL certificate issued by Symantec, Thawte, Geotrust, and RapidSSL prior to that date were all affected, and needed to be re-issued prior to a deadline set for September 13, 2018. This affected most clients on the Kryptronic Managed Hosting platform.

So we took on the task of reissuing nearly ever SSL certificate across our entire hosting platform. Google distributes Chrome, which is used by 60% of the Internet. Yes, that’s right. This means 60% of people browsing your site would get a security warning if your certificate was deemed untrusted. In the eyes of the consumer this will be a huge red flag. We’ve all seen it, nothing is more nerve racking when Chrome blocks the loading of a domain and populates warnings that it is unsecure.

To avoid this for our customers we went ahead and re-issued and installed new Digicert CA Certificates on all affected client sites. We are committed to providing you the most secure environment possible. Thank you for being a Kryptronic Managed Hosting client.
